The Face of Chanel

Chanel is well known for using well known celebrity as the face of there product.

In the 50s

in the 50s we had Actress and model Suzy Parker who became one of the first; in the Chanel advertisement shot by Richard Avedon, she’s was portrayed as the perfect No. 5 woman of the ’50s

"This is a vintage Chanel advertisement for their iconic perfume, Chanel No. 5. I couldn’t find the actual year of publication. The caption reads, “every woman alive loves Chanel No 5”

In the above ad, she is the vibrant and happy woman who everyone woman wont's to be like and every man wont's to be with. she is distinctly upper class, immaculately woman. The slogan, “Every woman alive loves Chanel No. 5″ would remain throughout the ’60s as part of the Chanel slogan

The Youthful Chanel

Before their 1966 advertisement Chanel No. 5 was considered the fragrance of rich aunts. so when they chose to use a pretty young woman, that came captured more audience. for their ad they used Ali McGraw, who fronted the Chanel No. 5 for the Bath campaign. Her wide-eyed and Girl beauty brought the fragrance to the youth—and kept it there.

Though this ad was done in 1966, looking at it reminds me of some of the advertisements done today, so i must say they got it right. the image is sext ( necked woman) yet innocent ( seen as the girl holding/ hiding her self) the image is a landscape with two images, on the left (Ali McGraw) on the write and the product on the left.

The 20th Century Chanel

In 2005 the new face of Chanel was Nicole Kidman. she brought with her the i elegance and movie star glamour. The print and famous TV  advertisement  were shot by Moulin Rouge director Baz Luhrmann. who presented the ad as a story.

This image ad by Chanel 2005 is full of glamour and allergens. Its a classic look that Chanel go for. the image is sexy yet very classy and also simple. in the image we see the Chanel logo in three place the to right, the back words neckless and also the product its self (perfume).

The Male Chanel

Never before has Chanel use a man as the face their fragrance. so it was a surprising and a delight for Chanel to move away from there norm and use a man. in 2012 Chanel made Brad Pitt the face on Chanel . Stark in black and white, with the bottle in colour. Its very interesting the fact that they chose to use a man to advertise a women's perfume.
